10/?/11 A Raccoon Sighting! by Colin S.
I was in the M.P.R. at our school's PTC meeting, playing on my mom's phone sometime around 6:00. Then, out of nowhere, came a raccoon. I was sitting right next to the open door with the raccoon right next to the door outside. We had a 2 second stare-down until we both walked away. Then I warned my mom and then the meeting was over. Then, in front of the work room, I saw it one last time. After that, it ran away and disappeared. That was the last time I saw a raccoon at school.

12/16/11 Andrew Q. finds an "alien" on campus. It's green, and "leafy" but it walks and climbs trees. (It has not been officially identified. Katydid and "Leaf Bug" are possible choices.) To save the insect from being stepped on by the lunch crowd, Andrew carefully picked up the insect and put it on the tree. Quick-thinking Caitlin K. made a field sketch complete with notes about her observations as Mr. Van Winkle taught the students earlier this month. She followed up her drawing up taking close up photos of the insect. Great work, Andrew and Caitlin!
