Leading into the Rain Garden Work Party (construction/planting), three 6th grade girls, (Emily R., Valerie B., Emma B.) initiated "Water Week" and created a week's worth of fun and informational water-related activities. The 5 lunch-time events covered how littering, water usage, urban runoff, and conservation affect our local watershed(aquifer, river, ocean) and marine life. They even traveled to individual K to 1st grade classes to perform a skit they wrote called "Turtle Trouble". They created posters, murals, displays, demonstration models, props and costumes, provided game prizes, and recruited other students to help. They raised student interest about water issues. It was a great success!
